I got a lovely email from Gabriele Marzoli (based in Italy) today thanking me for all the transcriptions. He’s kindly sent me his transcription of Dean Town and asked if I would post it for you good folk o’ the Internet to see. So don’t delay – head over to the transcription page immediately to find it! It’s really really cool when folks get in touch to say hi and let me know these transcriptions are being put to good use. So if you’re using them please drop me an email.
All that remains to say is ‘grazie mille’ to Gabriele for the transcription!
The new 7″‘Kettle Full of Silver” (plus digital download) is now avaliable from Hot Drop Records. Very pleased to be on these records and I’m looking forward to heading out on the road with these lovely chaps later in the year.
Appologies for the slow rate of new transcriptions – life has been a busy thing with many gigs, teaching and an impending house move. Anywhere here’s a cheeky little transcription from Maceo to keep you all going. Head on over to the transcriptions page and look under ‘G’ (for ‘Gosh, that is just so darn funky’!).
am very pleased about this! Big shout out to James Sebright the man behind the scenes making it all work properly again. Much indebted.
So…happy new year one and all! There are some new transcriptions to come, a slightly delayed but on the way transcription book, a very exciting new jazz 4tet that I’m involved with and excellent news as one of my bass students has a place (plus bursary) at Trinity. A lovely start all round to the new year.
that my D’Addario string endorsement has been renewed! I’m still particularly stoked about the fantastic double bass strings (Zyex – hybrid string) that I’ve got which are still going strong over a year later. Check out the new album by Harry Bird and the Rubber Wellies “The Bones on Black” to hear them in action.
On my electric I’m using some of their flatwound chromes and you can hear these in action across Europe this summer with “Nick Pride and the Pimptones” and with the “Bohemian Rhapsody” tour. Great old school R & B sound!
I’ve finally managed to get round to checking and collating some of my transcriptions from last year that I didn’t put up on the website and have made them into this lovely little transcription book of 14 transcriptions 🙂 I hope you enjoy playing through it as much as I’ve enjoyed figuring them all out! Head over to my publications page to find the download.
Sorry for the lack of new transcriptions appearing on the website – I’ve been focusing in on trying to get my second transcription book of Funk and Soul tunes finished off. It’s nearly there so hopefully in the next few weeks I will post it up and it will have 15 transcriptions for you to get your teeth into! 🙂
